Complaint

What to do if you have a complaint?

Bosselaar Strengers is affiliated with the consumer complaints board for the legal profession (Geschillencommissie Advocatuur). What does this mean for you?

  1. If you are not satisfied with the quality of our service or disagree with an amount we have invoiced, you should first discuss this with your lawyer.
  2. If you are unable to jointly find a solution, you can submit your complaint to the consumer complaints board for the legal profession, known as the Geschillencommissie Advocatuur.
  3. Please note that you must submit your complaint within 12 months after the date of the written response from your lawyer. Any complaints submitted later than that will not be dealt with by the board.
  4. The board deals with your complaint in accordance with the rules of procedure of the complaints board for the legal profession (Reglement Geschillencommissie Advocatuur). You can request a copy of the rules of procedure from the complaints board at the following address: PO Box 90600, 2509 LP The Hague.
  5. The complaints board is authorized to rule on complaints concerning the quality of the service and the amounts invoiced. Furthermore, the complaints board is authorized to rule on claims for compensation up to a maximum of EUR 10,000.
  6. If you have a claim for compensation that exceeds that amount, you can only submit your complaint to the complaints board if you are willing to limit the claim to EUR 10,000 and if you waive your right to the excess amount in writing.
  7. The complaints board will examine your complaint carefully and then give its decision. In the case of business customers, this decision qualifies as an arbitration award. In the case of private customers, the decision is a binding opinion.
  8. The complaints board rules to the exclusion of the ordinary court. No appeal is possible against the ruling.
